Oppo made a variety of announcements during the Oppo Inno Day 2021 event. One new device, in particular, caught everyone’s attention: the Oppo Find N. It’s essentially a flagship-level folding smartphone, and it’s the most powerful rival to Samsung’s own Galaxy Z Fold 3.
Pricing and availability
Unfortunately, the Oppo Find N is only available in China for the time being. But, it is currently available for pre-order, and it is going to release on December 23rd. The following is the price for it:
- Oppo Find N, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage – around RM5,115
- Oppo Find N, 12GB RAM, 512GB storage – around RM5,979
You might think it’s pricey, but it’s actually rather affordable compared to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. The flagship foldable from the South Korean company, with 12GB of memory and 512GB of storage, costs RMB14,999 (RM9,907) in China. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 starts at RM6,699 in Malaysia, which is significantly less expensive.
Oppo Find N specs
It is a shock when you hold the Oppo Find N in your hands because it is so little. The Oppo Find N offers a 5.49-inch AMOLED outside display with a resolution of 988 x 1972p. Meaning to say, you can operate it one-handed practically like an Apple iPhone 13 Mini when closed. With a pixel density of 402ppi, it’s still quite sharp, however, you’re limited to a 60Hz refresh rate.
Inner display, on the other hand, is where things start to get interesting. The Oppo Find N has a 7.1-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1792 x 1920p and an aspect ratio of 8.4:9. It boasts a 120Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 1000nits, and HDR10+ compatibility. When a high refresh rate isn’t required, the inner display uses LTPO technology with a variable refresh rate identical to Apple ProMotion for energy conservation. Both the inner and outside displays are scratch-resistant thanks to a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
The hinge, on the other hand, is a standout feature. The interior display of the Oppo Find N has nearly no creases, as you can see. The Flexion Hinge, as Oppo calls it, is responsible for this. According to Oppo, it includes a ‘waterdrop hinge design,’ which increases the angle of the fold when closed, allowing 80% less apparent wrinkle than previous foldable devices. When folded, the Flexion Hinge closes the space between the two portions of the inner display, giving it a considerably more streamlined appearance.
Oppo Find N Features
On the back, there’s a triple camera configuration with a 50MP, f/1.8 primary camera flanked by a 16MP, f2.2 ultrawide camera, and a 13MP, f/2.4 telephoto camera. On the Oppo Find N, you’ll find two selfie cameras: one 32MP f/2.4 selfie camera on the outer display and another 32MP f/2.4 selfie camera on the inside display. The selfie camera is in the center of the outer display, while the second selfie camera is in the corner of the inner display, both of which are hidden away in a punch-hole cutout.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 system-on-chip is paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It comes pre-installed with ColorOS, which is based on Android 11. A 4,500mAh battery, which features 33W wired fast charging, 15W wireless fast charging, and is also capable of 10W reverse wireless charging.
Stereo speakers and a fingerprint scanner on the side are also significant features. NFC, WiFi 6, and Bluetooth 5.0 are all supported by the Oppo Find N. These are available in black, white, or purple. Unfortunately, unlike the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, it does not have a water-resistant grade, so there will be some concerns about its longevity. There will be worries about the hinge’s durability, yet the way it folds in cleanly without a gap is extremely cool.
