It’s a long and hectic day, the first thing we do is to charge our phones. But, after half an hour, some of us are scratching our heads “wait for a second, why isn’t my phone charging?”. Fortunately, you don’t have to directly go to a phone service center when this happens because here are some tips for you to try when your phone is not charging.
1. Clean Your Phone Charging Port
If your phone is not charging. First, you should check your phone’s charging port. The charging port at the bottom of your phone has likely amassed by the dust and grime, which may cause the interface to have a poor connection with the cable plug. The dust may cause your phone can’t connect to the power source.
You can use a cotton swab, gently clean the charging port area. Don’t go ramming anything too deep into your charging outlet. You can turn on a flashlight to have a better look to clean the charging port. You can use a SIM ejector tool or a toothpick to have a heavier clean if you notice any unfamiliar debris stuck inside. After giving your port a good cleaning, try to charge your phone again. If that doesn’t help, continue to read the following ways.
2. Take A Look At Your Cable
If there is no problem with the phone charging port, you should switch to a different charging cable. You can try different cables, power sources, or adapters alternatively for charging. Cables are always the major issue, thus, try a few different cables. If you have a computer, you can connect the phone cable to the USB port of your computer. This is the easiest way to check whether the cable is to reproach for your troubles. If it can be charged, it means there is a problem with the charger.
3. Restart Your Phone
You can also try to restart your phone. If the battery of your phone cannot be charged, it may be a system problem or a battery temperature problem. A restart can refresh your phone, in case one of them had crashed while performing a task. If the problem is the battery temperature, you can try to turn it off and let it sit for a period of time or place it in a cool place before you try to charge it.
4. Water Damage Or Dropped?
You need to recall whether the phone has been flooded or dropped. Water damage or falling may cause damage to the internal parts of your phone. If yes, you should not charge your phone cause water and electricity do not go well together.
First, you need to make sure that your phone’s internals is thoroughly dry. Then, you can use a hairdryer and blow hot air into the phone charging port.
