On the 2nd of January, Apple released a new ad for the Apple Watch Series 7, which will likely make you feel like you need one to live—and guilty for not having one. The commercial shows three emergency calls made with the Apple Watch that resulted in being rescued “in minutes.”
The one-minute advertisement relied on us listening to the callers’ frightening voices while viewing a broad perspective of their possible locations during emergency calls. All three of the highlighted voices also informed 911 that they made the call using their Apple Watches.
“With the help of their watch, Jason, Jim, and Amanda were rescued in minutes,” wrote Apple at the end of the ad.
The advertisement succeeds in intimidating us into thinking we need the new Apple Watch Series 7 in case we find ourselves in a life-threatening scenario. And they aren’t completely wrong. If you need to, you may use your Apple Watch to call emergency services (as well as anybody else on your contact list). So, if you’re in a scenario where you don’t have access to your phone, your Watch might save your life.
However, you might argue that there are a variety of smartwatches on the market that do essentially the same thing. For example, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 also allows you to make and receive calls while on the road. A variety of other handy watches are available that aren’t Apple Watches.
Nonetheless, the new Apple Watch Series 7 advertisement is quite strong, and it may cause individuals who have not yet purchased smartwatches to reconsider. However, Apple has always been brilliant at creating memorable advertising. For instance, the one in which they try to persuade Android customers to transfer to the other side, or the one in which a lady tries not to drop her iPhone 12 on the street.
