Honor first introduced the Honor 50 series in China in June of this year, with a global variant of the Honor 50 following a few months later. However, less than six months after the Honor 50 was released, the Honor 60 and Honor 60 Pro were released.
Honor 60 Pro specs and features
The Honor 60 Pro has a 6.78-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1200 x 2652 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz, making it a fairly large smartphone. It also supports HDR10+ and can generate over a billion colors. The screen’s quad-curved display, with all four edges curved back for what Honor claims is a smoother in-hand feel, is perhaps its most distinguishing feature. The Honor 60 Pro weighs approximately 192g and measures 8.19mm in thickness.
It is powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ system-on-chip, which was only announced in late October. The Honor 60 series is the first to use the new Plus variant of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G, just as the Honor 50 series was the first to use the Snapdragon 778G. The Snapdragon 778G has four Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. While the Snapdragon 778G+ has the same configuration except one of the Cortex-A78 cores is now clocked at 2.5GHz. In addition, the Honor 60 Pro will have up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It comes pre-installed with the Magic UI 5.0 skin for Android 11.
Camera
In terms of cameras, the device has a triple camera setup on the back, with a 108MP, f/1.9 main shooter with a 1/1.52-inch sensor and 9-in-1 pixel binning for a 2.1m pixel size. This is accompanied by a 50MP, f/2.2 ultrawide angle camera with a 122° field of view and a 2MP depth sensor. Meanwhile, the front of the device has a 50MP camera for selfies. Surprisingly, it also includes a new set of camera hand gesture controls. This allows you to raise your hands to control the cameras. For instance, switching between front and back cameras or enabling picture-in-picture mode.
Battery
Other notable features include a 4,800mAh battery, which is larger than the 4,000mAh battery found in the Honor 50 Pro. It also supports 66W fast charging, allowing for a 50 percent charge in just 15 minutes. Surprisingly, this means that the Honor 60 Pro is a step down from the Honor 50 Pro, which was capable of up to 100W fast charging. NFC, WiFi 6, and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity are included, as well as an under-display fingerprint scanner and stereo speakers. It is available in four colorways: black, green, pink, and blue.
Honor 60 other specs and features
The Honor 60 will be slightly smaller than its Pro sibling, with a 6.67-inch FHD+ OLED display and a refresh rate of 120Hz. It is, however, capable of HDR10+ and can produce over a billion colors, just like its bigger brother. The Honor 60 lacks quad-curved glass in favor of a more standard dual-curve display on the left and right edges. It weighs 179g and has a thickness of 7.98mm.
Surprisingly, it features the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor as the Honor 50, as well as up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. It will also include Magic UI 5.0 out of the box. The cameras are also a slight downgrade from the quad-camera setup on the Honor 50, as they lack the 2MP bokeh camera. Instead, the Honor 60 has a triple camera setup that includes a 108MP, f/1.9 main shooter, an 8MP, f/2.2 ultrawide camera, and a 2MP, f/2.4 depth sensor. The device has a 32MP, f/2.4 selfie camera on the front. However, the gesture controls for the cameras will remain the same.
It has the same 4,800mAh battery as the Honor 60 Pro, as well as 66W fast charging. This would be a slight improvement over the Honor ’50s 4,300mAh battery. There’s also an under-display fingerprint scanner and NFC, WiFi 6, and Bluetooth 5.2 support. It is available in the same four colors as the Honor 60 Pro.
