Eternals is a Marvel movie based on Marvel Comics that came out with new heroes and characters in the film. “Eternals”, immortal beings, emerge from hiding after thousands of years to protect Earth from their evil counterparts, the Deviants.
The movie itself is the continuation of the 3rd film in the MCU’s Phase 4 after Black Widow & Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings, and the movie length is about 2 hours and 40 minutes. Introduces an ancient race of superheroes and predatory shape-shifting aliens known as Deviants, and provides a greater explanation of the godlike beings called the Celestials that first appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy. The scope of Eternals expands beyond even the most ambitious Avengers crossovers: It spans thousands of years and tells the origin story of the entire MCU.
“Eternals explores the very creation of the Marvel universe itself,” what Kevin Feige(Marvel Studios President) said.
The movie itself is directed by Oscar-winner filmmaker Chloé Zhao. Actors Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Harish Patel, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, and Angelina Jolie feature in the film.
The score is not the worst, it is the lowest of any Marvel Cinematic Universe film.
On the other hand, almost all film reviewers have labeled the Eternals as one of MCU’s worst flops. The film has garnered some of the worst reviews of all time for any Marvel film.
Rotten Tomatoes, one of the film reviewers, gives it 62 percent ratings which is not looking good for “Eternals” because it has not been well received by reviewers. On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the film presently has a 62 percent rating.
The 62 percent rating was based on 92 critic reviews compared to ‘Thor: The Dark World’ and ‘Black Widow’ are both labeled as the franchise’s weakest cinema films, earned 66 percent and 79 percent marks. ‘Black Panther’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’, on the other hand, received 96 percent and 95 percent ratings, respectively.
Eternals should get more merits
On the contrary, many of them have praised the movie for its diverse cast but found issues with the lesser-known slate of characters and the plot’s massive scale. With all of that said, Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings still “topped” the all-time weekend box office record with an unknown title character. Or did it stop audiences from falling in love with Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014. Eternals may still succeed on the merits of its star-actor cast and its visionary director, as well as its role as a small part in Hollywood’s most lucrative blockbuster machine.
Because of MCU parallel worlds and timelines in Phase 4 make the viewers confused. Other than that, the viewers even feel strange about the new heights in the realm of science fiction. Made them feel like they need to have a prior understanding the past movies title. It will different story if you are the hardcore Marvel Comic Fan.
The Eternals has been released and available in Malaysia movie theaters from 4th November onward. Dear readers who are still not watching it be prepared for a long movie for small bladder. Forget about reviews, it’s just a speculation or critics thing from the bunch of people who are hard to please.
