So what is clubhouse actually?
To summarise, imagine you have an app that lets you listen other people’s live conversations. Whether they are famous or knowledgeable in certain area. These people, they want to be heard and you may be given an opportunity to join the conversation. Think of it as an audio-chat social network. Or it’s like if Twitter was a podcast you lived inside it.
How to sign up clubhouse and what to expect?
At the time, you need an invitation from an existing Clubhouse user to even get access. Every new user gets two invites, and they earn more as they use the app. You may register first before you even get an invite. The existing user simply needs your phone number to invite you. Then you will get a texted, telling you to visit joinclubhouse.com/app. Clubhouse currently only available on iOS. Any iPhone user can download the app. Unfortunately, as of now the Android app is in the works.
In the App, you can only upload your profile pics for each user, there are no pictures and video. The fastest way is to link your Twitter account to Clubhouse if you don’t want to set up a profile from scratch. It’ll even pull in your existing Twitter profile pic. Clubhouse also help you to link your contacts, making it easier to find people to follow.
How it work?
The app offers a page full of conversational topics to follow, from sports to faith to politics to tech and on and on. You’ll find people interested in the same thing in each topic, and you can follow them. The more topics and people you follow, the more likely you are to get suggestions for a room that fits you.
The conversation rooms come and go as people launch or end them. And nothing is recorded by the App. But that doesn’t mean other users won’t find ways to record chats. As of now, the current limit is 5,000 people per Clubhouse room. Some people might think it’s like Google hangout or Zoom call. But clubhouse isn’t really that, because the conversations are open to any member who can find it, not a select few.
